Craig Amey, PS, AEW Senior Project Surveyor, and licensed FAA Remote Pilot, demonstrates the firm’s “Inspire 2 UAV” for two classes at the Macomb Mathematics Science Technology Center (MMSTC) in Warren.
Craig Amey, PS, Senior Project Surveyor, recently spoke with students at MMSTC about career opportunities as a professional surveyor, and also made them aware of the upcoming “Trig-Star Program Contest.”
The contest is an annual high school mathematics competition sponsored by the National Society of Professional Surveyors based on the practical application of Trigonometry. The program recognizes the best students from high schools throughout the nation, and in last year’s contest, the winner from MMSTC also won the state contest and finished third nationally.
Craig is one of two AEW surveyors who are licensed by the FAA to Pilot Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV’s), more commonly known as “drones.” The firm has two state-of-the-art UAV’s, both DJI’s, a Phantom 4, and the Inspire 2 that he demonstrated for the students.
