Geographic Information System (GIS) Project: St. Clair Shores

With a history dating back to 1998, the GIS for the City of St. Clair Shores has been growing steadily for nearly 20 years. What began as a set of historic utility plans has grown into a sophisticated, robust solution containing a wealth of information. The entirety of the sanitary, storm, and water systems have been mapped and digitized. The level of detail for these systems is substantial, including the location of every sanitary house service in the City, and any known defects for each. The sewer rehabilitation layers provided and maintained by AEW have established a starting point for the development of an asset management strategy for the City, as problem areas can quickly and accurately be identified. The overall dataset also includes information relating to historic basement flooding locations, City zoning, benchmarks, and water main breaks.
