This rendering prepared by Peter Allen & Associates illustrates how the new project will enhance
this very busy area beginning at the corner of Gratiot and Utica Road, and continuing to 12 Mile Road.
The City of Roseville’s “Utica Road Pedestrian and Bicycle Improvements” project was selected by the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG) for a Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) award in the amount of $539,218. With the City’s local match of $179,900, the project has a total budget of $718,918.
AEW’s Mike Vigneron, Senior Project Engineer, and Joe Eberle, Graduate Engineer, wrote the grant application in coordination with city officials who recently formed Roseville’s new Downtown Development Authority (DDA). The grant will be used for a new streetscape that will bring both aesthetic appeal and increased safety to Utica Road, from Gratiot Avenue to 12 Mile Road.
The city’s team working on this very important project includes Scott Adkins, City Manager, Glenn Sexton, Building Director, Jeff Schmidt, Public Services Director, and Brandon Jonas, Economic Development Director. The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) was represented by Jennifer Rigterink, Redevelopment Ready Communities (RRC), and Joe Meyer.
The project will feature wider sidewalks with crosswalks, bike lanes, ornamental lighting, attractive landscaping including green infrastructure, on street parking and sidewalk retail … and is a focal point for Roseville’s continuing renewal efforts to enhance their city and make it even more desirable for both residents and businesses.
AEW staff and management take great pride in the success their expertise brings our municipal, commercial, and private clients via grants and other alternative funding sources, which can then bring additional work to our organization as the projects move forward.
The City of Roseville is our longest standing municipal client, dating back to 1970, and we are very proud to be working on this project with them. Groundbreaking for this project will take place at 1 P.M. on Saturday, July 22 at the City-owned parcel near the corner of Utica Road and Gratiot Avenue. The Groundbreaking Ceremony will take place during the family-friendly “Jammin’ at the Junction” Car & Bike Show, which is being sponsored by the Roseville DDA, AEW, and other sponsors.
