AEW performs MS4 stormwater permit assistance to a wide array of municipal clients, including cities, townships, villages, school districts, and drainage districts. In Macomb County, 18 school districts work cooperatively through the Macomb Intermediate School District (MISD) to address stormwater regulatory permit requirements. Collectively, these school districts manage over 250 different facilities with a wide range of uses including Bus Maintenance Garages, Salt Storage Barns, Refueling Centers, High School Athletic Complexes, and K-12 School Buildings and parking lots.
AEW keeps the MISD and affiliated school district facility managers updated on environmental legislation and grant opportunities which apply to their facilities and operations. Our services include: PEP/PPP implementation, IDEP/TMDL surveys and tracking, Construction Site Runoff Control Monitoring, Post Construction Runoff Control Reviews, Pollution Prevention Planning, and related Standard Operating Procedure and Policy Development.
In 2013 we applied for, and successfully received, SAW Stormwater Management Plan (SWMP) grants for eight school districts within the MISD. This funding will be used to update existing policies and standard operating procedures, document existing storm water infrastructure, and complete the transition to new MS4 permits. Implementation of these SAW grants began in 2014 and continued through 2020.
