The new Splash Pad and upgraded Auxiliary Parking Lot are located in the Township’s Civic Center.
We’re pleased to share that AEW’s team, headed by Project Manager Scott Chabot, working with Clinton Township’s Director of Public Services, Mary Bednar, and her staff, have earned a “Quality of Life Less Than $1 Million Award,” for their successful entry in the American Public Works Association’s Michigan Chapter (APWA) “Project of the Year” competition.
The project included enhancing and expanding an existing parking lot that incorporates a number of environmental improvements, along with the creation of a state-of-the-art splash pad.
The new 52,250 sq. ft. HMA parking lot included the addition of two bioretention areas; one is 4,000 sq. ft. and the other is 7,750 sq. ft. The splash pad, complete with a flow-through dichlorination system, is situated on an adjacent 7,000 sq. ft. concrete pad.
There were a number of timing challenges associated with the project that were successfully met, helping to ensure completion in the township’s desired time frame. The parking lot, with Best Asphalt, Inc., serving as the contractor, needed to be, and was effectively completed prior to beginning the splash pad construction.
Thanks to good weather, the ability of the contractors to work together, and the timely approval of the necessary permits by EGLE, all helped to complete the work in time for the public to enjoy last summer.
