13 Mile Sanitary Pump Station Rehabilitation & Force Main

The 13 Mile Road Sanitary Pump Station Rehabilitation and Force Main project was a major infrastructure improvement undertaken by the City of Roseville to replace an aging pump station and more than 4,000 feet of deteriorated force main that had reached the end of their service lives. AEW provided surveying, architectural, hydraulic, structural, civil engineering, construction observation, and construction engineering services to support the project from design through implementation. Located near Groesbeck Highway, Utica Road, and the CN Railroad, the project required extensive coordination to maintain traffic flow, address utility conflicts, and navigate complex railroad permitting requirements. The new system included a modern submersible pump station, an at‑grade controls building, an on‑site natural gas backup generator, and air relief valve structures designed to improve reliability and long‑term operation. To minimize disruption and reduce construction costs, trenchless technologies such as horizontal directional drilling and bore‑and‑jack methods were used to install the new force main beneath roadways and railroad infrastructure. Safety and maintenance accessibility were enhanced by eliminating confined‑space entry requirements and relocating electrical equipment to a climate‑controlled facility. The completed project provides Roseville with a resilient and serviceable wastewater system designed to support the community for decades to come.
