Belle Isle Nature Megaphone
The Belle Isle Conservancy and the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation wanted to install an approximately 10-foot-long wooden outdoor Nature Megaphone near the Belle Isle Nature Center that assists visitors in hearing the sounds of nature. Included in the project was a natural 6-foot-by-30-foot pathway that is compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. AEW’s team delivered topographic survey, civil engineering, structural engineering, landscape architecture, and construction services to ensure the megaphone’s durability, safety, and integration into its natural surroundings, with a total construction cost of $74,500. This innovative installation serves as both an educational and recreational feature, encouraging year-round engagement with Belle Isle’s natural environment.
