Cherry Street Mall (Mount Clemens Downtown Revitalization)

Cherry Street Mall is a key component of the City of Mount Clemens’ downtown revitalization initiative, enhancing Macomb Place and Cherry Street through a modern, pedestrian‑focused design. The completed project included full street reconstruction and the creation of a pedestrian mall that improves connectivity between these two prominent areas. Improvements involved the removal and replacement of pavement, sidewalks, brick pavers, trees, lighting, a 12‑inch water main, and extensive electrical and plumbing infrastructure. The work also included underground sanitary and storm sewer construction, along with the relocation and reinstallation of existing outdoor musical equipment. AEW provided both design engineering and construction engineering services, guiding the project from concept through completion. A signature gateway arch was incorporated to create a welcoming entrance to the Downtown District and reinforce community identity. The revitalized Cherry Street Mall now serves as an attractive and functional placemaking destination that supports economic activity and community engagement in downtown Mount Clemens.
