Lake Front Park Bridge Replacement

Anderson, Eckstein & Westrick, Inc. (AEW) was commissioned by the City of Grosse Pointe Woods to perform a bridge  inspection on the existing timber structure. Excessive deflection of deck panels required replacement of timber superstructure.

The AEW team designed new concrete deck-on-steel beams, bearing on existing steel piles at piers and wood piles at abutments. The AEW team also performed verification of existing pile capacity, condition, and repairs. Crews maintained access to the Lake Front Park during the duration of the project.

STRONGER COMMUNITY

The new superstructure has a high-service life but was built light enough to reuse the existing piles to stay within project budget.
