The Southeast Macomb Sanitary District operates the Milk River Facilities on behalf of the Milk River Intercounty Drain Drainage District. The Drainage Board is chaired by the Director of the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development or his/her designee. Other current Drainage Board members include the Macomb and Wayne County Drain Commissioners, or their designees, and appointees of the Cities of St. Clair Shores, Grosse Pointe Woods, and Harper Woods.
The Pier, officially re-opened in May, was extended 390 feet, is about 1,600 feet long, and extends 396 feet into Lake St. Clair. Popular with fishermen, updates include sunshades, benches, and Adirondack chairs, as well as seated and standing tables. Portions of the pier’s railings are lowered, allowing the best visibility for guests in wheelchairs.
In addition to new furniture, the seawall of the existing pier was reconstructed, pavers were installed on the existing pier, and a boardwalk connecting the pier to Blossom Heath Park was also constructed.
