AEW Names Two New Shareholders

AEW’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Scott J. Chabot, PE, and R. Ryan Kern, PE, have become shareholders in the firm.
Scott graduated from Lawrence Technological University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He was President of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) in his senior year and worked in the University’s Structural Research Facility from 1997 – 1999. Scott interned at Toltest, Inc. in the summer of 1999.
He worked at Urban Land Consultants, LLC, as a co-op from 2000 – 2001, and as a Graduate Engineer from 2002 – 2006. He then worked at Giffels Webster from 2007 – 2018 as a Senior Engineer and Project Manager, receiving his PE License in February, 2006. Scott joined AEW as a Senior Project Engineer in April, 2018.
Noted for his customer service, Scott successfully manages projects for a number of public and private clients, and is accomplished in creating successful grant applications. He worked mainly on private projects from 2000 to 2010, when he moved to municipal work.
He is currently the firm’s Project Manager for Clinton Township and has also worked in the Villages of Armada and Leonard, the City of Inkster, and Bruce Township.
Scott is active in volunteer activities, currently serving on the Board of Mt. Clemens Rotary, and lives in Clinton Township with his wife of 14 years, Michelle, and their two daughters.
Ryan graduated from Michigan Technological University in 2004, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, and he also holds an Associate of Applied Science degree in Civil Engineering Technology Management from Ferris State University.
Currently a Senior Project Engineer, he first joined AEW in 2001 as an intern, and became a Graduate Engineer in 2004. He left in 2011 to join Hennessey Engineers as a Project Manager, and returned to AEW in January, 2020.
Ryan excels at managing municipal infrastructure projects and developing short-and long-term capital improvement plans for utility and roadway infrastructure. He is currently working on Municipal Engineering projects for Eastpointe, Harper Woods, Grosse Pointe, St. Clair, and Birmingham.
These projects include the Clinton Avenue Bikeway in St. Clair, 2021 Water Main Replacement Program in Eastpointe, and the City of Birmingham’s Sidewalk and Pavement Repair, and Handicap Ramp Programs.
Ryan serves as the 1st Director on the Board of Directors of the American Public Works Association (APWA) Downriver Branch. Ryan, Julie, his wife of 13 years, and their two daughters live in Macomb Township.
