ROSEVILLE – The wheels are moving on a plan to improve amenities at Rotary Park in Roseville.
Roseville city officials and staff from Anderson, Eckstein & Westrick, Inc., (AEW) recently held a May 27 groundbreaking ceremony for a new splash pad, a 1,640-square-foot aquatic playscape that promises to soon be a gathering space for outdoor summertime fun. The splash pad will contain colorful toys from Rain Drop Inc. that spray water, often at the push of a button.
The park overhaul plan also includes other improvements to amuse and challenge visitors, including new pickleball courts; a fitness obstacle course built for nimble, ninja-style athletics; more accessible play equipment; two new pavilions, one large and one small; and a walking path, along with new benches and waste bins.
During the groundbreaking event, Roseville Mayor Pro Tem Catherine Haugh said she looks forward to children enjoying the upcoming new or improved park activities.
“It’s a great, great thing for Roseville,” she said. “We have waited a long time to improve this park, and we’re going to bring something for everybody: pickleball, a splash pad, … toys for the kids. So it’ll be great. We’re very excited.”
The City of Roseville, which has worked with AEW since the 1970s, picked AEW to assist in updating existing Rotary Park amenities and adding new ones. AEW has been involved in the park project’s master planning, topographical surveying, architecture, landscape architecture, and civil engineering.
Bond money, approved by Roseville voters in 2023, is paying for the park improvements, which are projected to cost around $2 million in total.
Roseville City Manager Ryan Monroe said the upcoming amenities “will be safe for our residents.”
“Residents can feel confident that these new amenities are being designed with their safety and well-being in mind,” Monroe said. “We have carefully listened to our residents’ needs and have carefully planned this project with our consultants to make sure that taxpayers will get their money’s worth and enjoy these new amenities for years to come.”
According to AEW engineers, the entire package of park projects will most likely be ready for the public by Memorial Day 2026.
“In this relatively small urban park, there is something for everyone!” AEW Executive Vice President Scott Lockwood said.
